Qamar Zaman Kaira

Qamar Zaman Kaira is the current Information Minister in the PPP led government of Pakistan. He was Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Northern Areas (KANA) before taking the post of Information minister, after reignation of Ms. Sherry Rehman. Qamar Zaman Kaira son of Chaudhry Mohammad Zaman. He was born on January 5, 1960 in Kharian district Gujrat, Punjab Province of Pakistan.

He is a senior leader of Pakistan Peoples Party. He has done Masters of Arts (Philosophy) from University of the Punjab, Lahore.

In his student life he was president students union in Federal Government

College Gujrat in 1970.

According to APP Qamar Zaman was always known as one to raise his voice for freedom of speech and democracy during the time of Martial Law in the country.

Due to his work for welfare of the people of his constituency, he was elected Nazim, Union Council Gujrat. In 2002, he was elected Member National Assembly.

He worked as Member Public Accounts Committee, National Assembly. He also remained Chairman Standing Committee SAFRON.

He had been associated with Pakistan People Party from the begining. Qamar Zaman is a well travelled man he has visited India, Norway, Denmark, Finland, France, and United Kingdom to attend conferences and seminars.

Qamar Zaman Kaira is married and is the father of two sons and a daughter.

His hobbies include reading. His areas of legislative interest are: education, finance, communication.
