Committee formed for crisis over missing persons
QUETTA: The Balochistan Government has constituted a committee headed by Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani for initiating a process to find a solution to the prevailing crisis of missing persons.
According to an official notification issued here on Wednesday by the Provincial Home Department, the other members of the committee include parliamentarians of all political parties in the provincial Assembly, the Home Minister, Chief Secretary, Provincial Police Officer and Provincial Home Secretary.
The committee would initiate talks with concerned authorities to resolve the missing people’s issue. It would also take measures for safe recovery of John Solecki, the head of UNHCR in Balochistan.
The decision in this regard had been taken in a meeting of parliamentary leaders of coalition partners last week.
Raisani says Govt making all efforts for Solecki’s release
The Balochistan CM Nawab Aslam Raisani has said that government is making all out efforts for the recovery of John Solecki, the head of the UNHCR, Quetta.
Talking to newsmen after casting his vote in the senate election, he said that whereabouts of John Solecki could not be traced so far. ‘We are trying our level best to trace out John Solecki,’ he said.
It may be recalled here that Baloch Liberation United Front (BLUF) had given its final four day deadline for the acceptance of their demands on March 1st, which will end on the night of March 5th. BLUF has threatened to kill John Solecki if 1,109 missing and arrested people including women were not released in the given time.
