No response yet from Sharifs on reconciliation: Fazl, Malik
ISLAMABAD: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam chief Fazlur Rehman Tuesday said he is waiting for the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s response over the reconciliation efforts.
Nawaz Sharif has put forward two demands: that the PML-N’s position be restored to the one on Feb 24 and that lawyers be invited for negotiations by President Zardari, Fazl told newsmen along with Interior Advisor Rehman Malik.
‘President Zardari has conceded to both the demands,’ Fazl said. However, he said, what guarantee is there that the lawyers will not stage a sit-in after they are invited to the negotiation table.
Nawaz Sharif has demanded that all matters must be resolved before March 11, he said. But issues cannot be resolved in a matter of a single day, he added.
Nawaz Sharif has demanded that all matters must be resolved before March 11, Fazlur Rehman said.
The lawyers are educated people and ‘I request them not to stage sit-in on Shahra-i-Dastoor,’ Rehman Malik said.
Rawalpindi police and administration officials have been sent to the lawyers to request them not to stage a sit-in on Shahra-i-Dastoor, he said.
‘We should behave like a civilized nation.’
The Sharif brothers have not given any response to my offers. So far they have only leveled allegations against me, Malik said.
