Adl Regulation will ensure lasting peace in Swat: Chief Minister tells Jirga  

PESHAWAR,  The NWFP Chief Minister Ameer Haidar Khan Hoti has said that the decision of the Adl Regulation System would guarantee long lasting peace in the province especially in Swat. He thanked Allah Almighty for His blessings and providing opportunities to the elected coalition government in the province to put peace into practice. He expressed these views in a speech at a grand jirga to deliberate upon the Adl Regulation System in Malakand Division here at CM house on Monday. 

The participants included ANP Provincial President Afrasiab Khattak, Provincial Ministers, leaders of parliamentary parties in provincial assembly, provincial presidents of political parties, senate, provincial and national assembly members from Malakand Division, delegation of the Shariat e Muhammadi movement led by Naib Ameer Maulana Muhammad Alam, and high ranking officials of the province. 

ANP Provincial President shed light on the main points of the jirga’s agenda. 

The Chief Minister termed the announcement of the Adl Regulation system historical and lauded the efforts of Maulana Sufi Muhammad and his associates who have assured resoration of peace in the Malakand Division. 

The Chief Minister also announced the establishment of special task force to monitor the implementation of Adl Regulation System. “The cases under the system will be decided in specific timeframe and the facility of appellate courts will also be provided in Malakand Division in order to provide speedy justice to the people at their doorsteps. 

“Civil and criminal cases will be decided in six and four months respectively.” he said. 

The Chief Minister said that with the restoration of peace, the process of development and infrastructure in the affected areas will start soon. He said the President of Pakistan has also approved a special package for the affectees. 

The Chief Minister welcomed the decision of 10-day ceasefire in Swat. 

He said the Adl Regulation System is according to the constitution and the federal government and other national bodies were taken into confidence on the matter. 

“It is our collective duty to work for peace and development in the province and to stop more blood shed.” he reiterated. 

He thanked the leaders of all political parties and members of parliament for their assistance in restoring peace in the province. 

He said, “everything is meaningless without peace and writ of the government is indispensable for the implementation of decisions of the government, and collective efforts must be required against those who will try to spoil efforts of the government,” 

Meanwhile Federal Minister Najmuddin Khan of PPP, Maulana Sami-ul-Haq of JUI(S), Mukhtiar Khan of Pukhtoon Khwa Mili Awami Party, Provincial Minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain and parliamentary leader of PPP(S) Sikander Sherpao in their speeches welcomed the announcement of enforcement of Nizam Adl Regulation for peace and assured the government of their full support in bringing peace to the province irrespective of political differences. 

Naib Ameer TNSM Maulana Muhammad Alam has said that respecting the Adl system in Malakand is our collective responsibility. He said the harmony between the two sides will ensure peace in the province.
