China to welcome any issue conducive to easing tension between Pakistan, India



BEIJING, Feb 17 (P D N): The Foreign Ministry spokesperson Tuesday said that on India, Pakistan relations, China “welcome any issue conducive to the easing of tension between them”.
The Spokesperson Jiang Yu was asked at the regular press briefing that on US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton February 20-22 visit here, does China expect there is possibility to discuss issues relating to India and Pakistan and Indo-US nuclear deal.
At the moment, Yu responded that she cannot predict that the visit will cover which issues, adding that she believe there will have exchange of views on wide range of issues including hotspot international and regional issues.
China, she said also hope that India and Pakistan can properly and commonly handle the relevant issues through dialogue and cooperation.
“I have noted relevant actions from both India and Pakistan”, Jiang Yu said, adding that as mutual friend of both India and Pakistan, China sincerely hope that both the countries can proceed from over all interest of South Asia’s peace and stability and jointly dedicate themselves towards this goal.
“On cooperation between India and Pakistan, our position has not changed”, she added.
To another question, she said that President Asif Ali Zardari will visit Hubei and Shanghai from February 20.
The spokesperson said that this is President Zardari’s second visit to China after his state visit last October.
She said that the visit of President Zardari will focus on China’s development in water conservancy, agriculture and financial sector and promote bilateral cooperation in these areas.
“At present China, Pakistan bilateral relations maintain good development and momentum, as there has been frequent high-level exchange of visits and cooperation in economic, trade, energy, agriculture, transportation and other fields is going smoothly, she said.
Both countries are maintaining close coordination and cooperation on international and regional matters.
The friendly cooperation between China and Pakistan is in the fundamental interest of the peoples of the two countries.
She said that China attaches great importance to President Zardari’s visit and believe that it will consolidate the all weather friendship and deepen all direction of cooperation between China and Pakistan.
To another question, Yu said that China has always provided help to Pakistan’s economic assistance and its development in its own capacity.
She also expressed the hope that Pakistan can maintain stability, economic development and social harmony.
